Placenta Options
Two styles of encapsulation methods:1. Capsules from steamed, dehydrated placenta; for thousands of years, Chinese Medicine has recognized the placenta as powerful herb that can augment the Qi, (energy), nourish the blood, and augment the kidney essence. In this method, the placenta is gently steamed with herbs, sliced thin and dehydrated. It is then ground into a powder and put into capsules.
2. Capsules from raw, dehydrated placenta are less processed and retain more of the original content. Raw placenta can be cut into thin strips and then dehydrated. The dehydrated pieces are then ground into a powder.

In Chinese medicine, raw foods are generally considered cooling and heated foods are warming.

Encapsulation Process:
The encapsulation process should start within 48 hours after birth. Double-bag the placenta in extra large ziplock freezer bags. The placenta will generally be suitable for consumption for 4 days (kept refrigerated) If it's not possible to start the process within the first 72 hours, the placenta should be frozen within the first 24 hours.
Each placenta is different in size and substance so the amount of capsules yours makes will vary from 90 to 150. Store them in a dark, cool area. Keep capsules dry, and store any remaining capsules in the freezer for long-term use. DO NOT REFRIGERATE THE CAPSULES. Placenta capsules will last at least 1 year if stored properly.
Depending on how many capsules your placenta made, how many you take and how often, they will last you anywhere from a month to a year. If you are also having a tincture made, you will be able to keep it on hand for a very long time.

Placenta Tincture
Placenta Mother Tincture is useful to you after your capsules are all gone. An alcohol based liquid ... strained from the placenta capsule powder... Basically is it like storing your placenta in alcohol for long term future use. It is used for all the same reasons you are taking the capsules.
Parents have the right to keep their placenta for any reason they choose.
